How To Apply Cosmoline

To get the best performance from our Cosmoline products, it's important to apply it properly. Here are some tips on how to apply Cosmoline for maximum results!

• Prepare the surface of the metal by removing any existing rust, dirt, debris, oil, grease, paint or fingerprints. Basically you want only bare metal. (If anything is trapped between the surface of the metal and the rust preventative applied, rusting of the metal will occur.)

• The metal surface needs to be free of moisture, so allow the surface of the metal to dry completely after cleaning. Air drying is best because wiping may leave contaminants on the surface of the metal. (If moisture is trapped between the surface of the metal and the rust preventative applied, rusting of the metal will occur.)

• Apply rust preventative by appropriate application method.

• Allow rust preventative to completely dry before packing, covering or putting into storage. It can take 3 to 6 or possibly more hours (depending on conditions) for rust preventative to completely dry.

• If an additional coats are needed, allow rust preventative to completely dry before applying additional coats.
